Dumpster permits are generally only required if you are placing your roll off container directly on a street, sidewalk or any type of public property. These are commonly referred to as street or right-of-way permits and are issued by your city's public works or building department.
If you are placing your dumpster in your driveway or a privately owned space, you will not need a street permit. If your neighborhood has a homeowners association, you may also need permission from them before placing a dumpster on a residential street. When loading a dumpster, ensure all debris is placed inside the container. Try to evenly distribute the weight. Do not leave anything hanging over the sides or sticking through the top of the dumpster. This could delay your waste pick-up because drivers cannot haul overloaded dumpsters.
